Students are well prepared to enter the workforce or continue with graduate studies through resources available in the Department of Anthropology, such as:
- Field work. OSU Anthropology students study in Yemen and Uganda, Mexico and Madagascar, Tanzania and the Ivory Coast, South Africa and Guatemala, Brazil and Ecuador – just to name a few.
- Undergraduate research. One of the distinguishing features of an undergraduate education at OSU is the opportunity to work closely with a faculty member on a research project, offered on a regular basis in a wide variety of subjects. Students can also seek available research grant support through the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Undergraduate Research Grant program.
- Internships and student activities. Our Anthropology Club is open to all undergraduates, allowing all students with a similar interest in Anthropology access to influential faculty, guest speakers and unique opportunities for cross-major collaboration not found in the classroom. In addition, department faculty have a wide network of contacts in the "real world" to help students identify and secure internships to further enhance their education with on-the-job experience, such as opportunities with the Ohio Historical Society.
